Abstract

1,222,473. Steering road sweepers. LE MATERIEL DE VOIRIE S.A. 27 Feb., 1969 [11 March, 1968], No. 10502/69. Heading B7H. [Also in Division E1] In a motor street-sweeper having a rotary brush 1 adapted to follow the kerb of a pavement, the brush 1 is mounted on a carrier arm 2 which provides for lateral shifting of the brush relative to the vehicle, and a follower roller 7 for engagement with the kerb is arranged both to act through servo-control means on the steering mechanism of the vehicle and to effect lateral shifting of the brush 1. The carrier arm 2 pivots about a pivot pin 3 on the vehicle chassis 4, and the roller 7 is carried by a follower arm 6 which pivots about a pivot pin 5 on the arm 2. The follower arm 6 acts on the carrier arm 2 through a compression spring 8, and another compression spring 19 is interposed between the arm 2 and an abutment 20 on the chassis 4. Stops 9, 21 limit outward pivotal movement of the arms 6, 2 respectively. A lever 10 on the follower arm 6 acts through a roller 11 on the control rod 12 of a pressure reducing device 13 which controls application of fluid pressure to a ram 16 linked to the steering mechanism of the vehicle.
