Abstract

1,222,249. Sweetening hydrocarbons. ESSO RESEARCH & ENG. CO. 12 July, 1968 [28 July, 1967], No. 33370/68. Addition to 1,167,442. Heading C5E. An improvement in or modification of the process claimed in any one of Claims 1 to 8 of parent Specification comprises contacting the petroleum hydrocarbon feedstock with the crystalline aluminosilicate molecular sieve at a temperature in the range of 30‹ to 250‹ F. and in the presence of an oxygen-containing gas, and recovering a sweetened hydrocarbon product. The feedstock may be virgin naphtha, cracked naphtha, gasoline, kerosene, jet fuel or fuel oil. The oxygen-containing gas may be air.
