Abstract

1,222,000. Container traffic. BONALLACK & SONS Ltd. 13 May, 1969 [2 July, 1968], No. 31553/68. Heading B8Q. A vehicle having a chassis 7 has a demountable body having a base frame 8 which is provided with extendable legs 9, 10 to support the body after withdrawal of the vehicle. The legs of square or rectangular section have inner extendable portions having supporting feet 9b, 10b or support rollers and are held in retracted or extended positions by spring-loaded pins operated by levers 17. The frame 8 is raised for unloading by rams 22 having at the outer end spherical balls 23 which engage the hemispherical apex 24a of cup-like members 24 mounted on the frame 8. The frame is held on the vehicle during transport by toggle fasteners 28 which may be associated with a micro-switch in the circuit of a warning system to indicate that the fasteners are properly engaged.
