[Also in Divisions B6 and E2] Apparatus for clamping sheets of paper comprises two parallel clamping strips 2, 3 the strip 3 being supported by a base board 4 and having a pair of upright toothed guides 7 and the hollow strip 2 having grooves for engaging the guides and a catch 9 on a lever 10 urged downwardly by a spring 17 and laterally by a spring 12 to engage a tooth 15 of each guide, each lever being supported by a stop 14 secured to the strip 2 and having an upstanding pin 20 engaging a slot in the strip and the strip 2 supports a pair of sliding adjusting elements 18 each having a stop 21 engageable with one of the pins 20 to disengage the catch from the guide, each adjusting element also being movable by a handle 11 to engage the stop 21 with the lever 10 to apply pressure thereto and increase the pressure on the sheets of paper 1. Sheets of paper 1 to be bonded together are placed on the strip 3 on the base board 4 and the strip 2 is manually pressed and retained by the catches engaging the teeth of the guides. The adjusting elements are moved to engage the stop 21 with the lever to increase the clamping pressure.
