Abstract

1,221,589. Laminated tape. CANADIAN TECHNICAL TAPE Ltd. 7 June, 1968 [8 April, 1968], No. 27098/68. Heading B5N. A method of making a reinforced securing tape 11 comprises the steps of obtaining an elongated flexible base 12 having a pair of opposed faces, applying an adhesive 14 to one of said faces and a plurality of reinforcing strands 15, e.g. of glass or hemp fibres longitudinally along said adhesive-carrying face so that said strands are adhered to said face, then applying a pressure-sensitive adhesive 13, 16 to the opposite faces of said base and upon the strands and said first adhesive, and then applying a sheet 17 of plastics film material so that it is secured by said pressure-sensitive adhesive to overlie said strands. In a preferred embodiment, the adhesive 14 is a pressure sensitive adhesive. The flexible base may be made of paper or plastics material, e.g. vinyl resins, polyethylene terephthalate or polyethylene. The film material may be polyethylene or plasticized polyvinyl chloride.
