Abstract

1,220,889. Vacuum cleaners. PHILIPS GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN N.V. 22 Nov., 1968 [27 Nov., 1967], No. 55552/68. Heading B1T. When the lid 7, 24 of an electric vacuum cleaner is shut as shown, it retains in place a support plate 13 integral with the end closure plate 10 of the dust bag 8, which communicates via a tube 11 with the inlet tube 22 of the cleaner. As described, plate 13 is retained in a chamber defined by walls 19, 20. To remove the dust bag, lid 7, 24 is opened and plate 13 is raised, tube 11 being removed through a slot 21 in wall 19, see Fig. 4. The base of the chamber may be open at 23 to allow leaked dust to fall out; or it may be provided with a rubber strip to catch the dust. Plate 13 is of guasi-trapezoidal cross-section (Fig. 4) and of wedge-shaped longitudinal section (Fig. 1).
