Abstract

1,220,406. Bearings. GLEITLAGER, G.m.b.H. 26 July, 1968 [27 July, 1967; 6 Dec., 1967], No. 35703/68. Heading F2A. An adjustable radial bearing has a shell 5 having at least three bearing surfaces 7 on its inner periphery, the radius of curvature of the surfaces being greater than that of the member 1 journalled. The shell has at least one groove 9 forming a weakened portion between two adjacent surfaces, and two slits (10, Fig. 3, not shown) extending transversely to the bearing axis cutting through at least one sliding surface and ending in the groove. An aperture 11 is provided in the shell extending axially between the two slits at the end of the sliding surface cut by the slits which is remote from the weakened portion. Means are provided for adjusting the width of the groove thereby adjusting the bearing clearance. The means may be a single or double-headed screw, a wedge or an eccentric.
