Abstract

1,219,867. Bar-stock feeding. CRI-DAN. 20 June, 1969 [1 Aug., 1968], No. 31358/69. Heading B3B. A lathe 1 has a workpiece 3 support and feed channel 2 comprising stands 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9, each having a yoke for mounting a pair of rollers 10, the yoke being rotatable through 90 degrees to position the rollers 10, (a) for longitudinal movement of the workpiece 3, (b) for rotational movement of the workpiece 3, or (c) to position the rollers 10 at an intermediate position to move a workpiece longitudinally as it rotates. The yokes are rotated simultaneously by a jack 19 operated link-rod system 18 incorporating articulated joints 26. The setting of the yokes to individual workpieces is achieved by screw mechanisms actuated simultaneously by a hand wheel 24, or an electric motor, and articulated link-rods 23. Individual stands can be lowered by jacks to remove them from contact with the workpiece. A lathe may be provided with a feed channel at its front and rear to feed or remove the workpiece and to support and remove a parted-off workpiece.
