A carrier 28 for containers 22, 24 having circular end rims 26 includes first and second pockets 36, 38 each comprising a top panel 40, 50 for overlying a respective container, a substantially semicircular wall 42, 52 depending from the top panel and defining a laterallyopening mouth 48, 60 and a shoulder 44, 54 extending inwards from the wall for engaging beneath the rim of the container. There are means for joining the pockets and enabling relative movement of the pockets between a first position in which a respective container rim may be assembled with each pocket through its mouth, and a second position in which the mouths are facing each other and containers in the pockets are in abutting relationship, each retaining the rim of the other in its respective pocket. As shown, the carrier which is formed from plastics material consists of planar body sections 30, 32 connected to each other along a longitudinally extending centre line 34. To assemble the containers, the latter are inserted into the pockets at one side of the carrier which is folded on the centre line 34, and then into the pockets on the other side of the carrier after which the sections 30, 32 are relatively pivoted about the line 34 whereby the containers became effectively locked within the pockets. Handle means in the form of finger openings 61, 63 are provided. In modifications, (a) the carrier is of a width to allow the containers to be assembled on both sides of the carrier while the latter is substantially flat, after which the centre longitudinal sections of the carrier are folded together and secured by staples to form a handle, and (b) the carrier is formed from a relatively rigid material such as injection moulded plastics material, opposite sides of the carrier being connected by a flexible longitudinally extending arcuate hinge section.
