Abstract

1,219,511. Deflashing moulding articles; cutting-out presses. SAOHSENRING AUTOMOBILWERKE ZWICKAU, VEB. 19 April, 1968, No. 18532/68. Headings B4B and B5A. A tool for complete trimming of a moulded workpiece in one operation comprises a bottom section or die 1, of the same shape as the moulded article and an upper member comprising vertical and horizontal or inclined cutters, the vertical cutters being operated by pressure on the upper member and the horizontal or inclined cutters by pressure on a compressible material enclosed between them and the moulded workpiece. As shown, the apparatus comprises a bottom section 1 into which the moulded workpiece with flash surround is placed. Guide columns 3 mounted on the bottom section locate a movable top plate 5 on which the vertical cutters are mounted and a block 10 is rigidly mounted on the base 10 by spacing blocks 4 and is resiliently connected to the top plate. The horizontal cutters 8 are resiliently interconnected and suspended from block 10 and enclose a pile of rubber cushions 11 extending into the block 10 and topped by a plunger 12 abutting the top member 5. In operation the top plate 5 is forced downwards shearing the flash with the vertical cutters. At the same time plunger 12 is forced downwards, compresses the rubber cushions 11, forcing the workpiece 2 firmly against the bottom section 1 and forces the resiliently mounted horizontal cutters 8 outwards shearing the flash. The distance moved by cutters 8 can be regulated by stops 9.
