Abstract

1,219,506. Valves. HENRY SYKES Ltd. 18 Feb., 1969 [29 Feb., 1968], No. 9930/68. Heading F2V. In a loose ball valve having a resilient, e.g., rubber ball valve member 4, the seating 1 is formed as a circular rigid, e.g., metal, insert having two annular surfaces 2 and 3 so arranged that initial contact between the ball and seating tubes takes place only with the surface 2, whereafter the ball additionally engages surface 3 and is prevented thereby from being excessively drawn into the seating-as, for example, when the valve member 4 is subjected to suction. In modifications, the surface 3 may be made of castellated form or substituted by a crosspiece such as a pin.
