Abstract
1,219,496. Beaded cloth. H. TAKENAKA. 1 Oct., 1968, No. 46575/68. Heading B6G. A beaded cloth is produced by depositing a plurality of spots of adhesive in a predetermined pattern on to a piece of cloth, arranging a plurality of beads on a device for retaining the beads in the same predetermined pattern, and bringing together the cloth and the beads with the two patterns in register. In Fig. 1 a perforated plate 6 having holes 16 arranged in accordance with the predetermined pattern is placed on a piece of cloth 5, and adhesive material is spread over the perforated plate 6 to deposit a plurality of adhesive spots 7 on the cloth in the desired pattern. The cloth 5 may be temporarily secured by paste 2 on a flat rigid support sheet 1 of plastics or metal. In Fig. 2 a bead-arranging device 3 includes an arrangement plate 9 in which holes 19 are arranged in the same predetermined pattern as the holes 16 in the perforated plate 6. An aspirator is arranged to suck air through the holes 19 of the arrangement plate 9. The cloth 5 to which adhesive spots 7 have been applied is brought down over the arranged beads 8 with the spots 7 and the beads 8 in register. As soon as the adhesive is dry and cured, the aspirator is stopped. The cloth having beads 8 adhered thereto is then lifted away from the plate 9 and stripped off the sheet 1. The adhesive may be an epoxy resin.
