Abstract

121,918. Hampton, C. W. June 28, 1918. Sleepers, sccuring rails to.-Belates to a clamp or device for securing together the bevelled flanges of railway and tramway rails or other pieces of constructional iron or steel work where it is desired to support one from another or otherwise brace two pieces together. The invention is primarily for use in connexion with overhead girders for carrying lifting tackle &c. in workshops, but may be used for other purposes such as for securing girders in position while being electrically drilled. Two jaws 1, 2 having bevelled surfaces 5 are drawn together by bolts 3, and in each jaw is an opening 7 to receive the upper flange of a girder A. When the jaws are applied to the girders A, B as shown, the upper flange of the lower girder is drawn tightly against the lower flange of the upper one. Each half of the clamp may he divided in a direction parallel with the bolts.
