Abstract

121,916. Coxon, J. June 26, 1918. Batteries.-In a steamship, a battery of boilers is arranged with the steam-pipe 25 in the form of a closed circuit. On the boilers and on the steam-pipe 25, between the several bulkheads 20, 21, &c., are arranged automatic emergency stop and cut-off valves 31, 32, 35, 36, 37, &c. so that if a boiler on one side of the ship is damaged, or the steam-pipe is shot away, the damaged section is isolated, and the steam from the undamaged boilers passed on to the engines 26 through the other part of the steam-pipe circuit 25.
