Abstract

1,219,156. Mounting pulleys on shafts. COMPAGNIE FRANCAISE THOMSON-HOUSTON-HOTCHKISS-BRANDT. 11 July, 1968 [12 July, 1967], No. 33097/68. Heading F2U. A pulley 3 &c., e.g. driving the drum of a washing machine, is mounted on a shaft 2 by forming the shaft end 1 of frusto-pyramidal shape, and forming corresponding apertures 6a, 6b in the pulley hub 10 formed from sheet metal by two flanges 9a, 9b welded to the check 3 and axially compressed by a bolt 7 acting on the flange 9a through a washer 8 to tighten the hub on the shaft. Again, the check 3 may form one of the flanges. One of the flanges may be formed with radial slots (12), Fig. 8 (not shown), extending from its central aperture, to facilitate deformation and hence tightening of the assembly.
