Abstract
1,219,096. Brush-holders for dynamo-electric machines. MORGAN COMPONENTS Ltd. 27 Jan., 1969 [4 Dec., 1967], No. 54982/67. Heading H2A. A brush-holder comprises a channel-section mount 10, Fig. 3, of which a side web or the side webs 14, 15 engage an insulated mounting 20, the side webs being stiffened against flexure, e.g. by plates 17, and one or more brush boxes, each box comprising nested channel section members 27, 28 secured together and to a plate 24 clamped to the base 16 of the mount. The channel section mount 10 and members 27, 28 and the plates 17 are made of sheet metal and the plate 24 is clamped to the base 16 by nuts and bolts 25 engaging slots 26 (Fig. 4, not shown) in the base, thus permitting lateral shifting of the brushes. In a modification, Figs. 5-7 (not shown), the brush boxes are mounted inside the mount and there may be an additional plate 24 spaced from the base of the mount for carrying additional brush boxes. The mounts carry a copper terminal bar 22 (41, Fig. 5).
