Abstract

1,219,051. Acetylene; olefins. KUREHA KAGAKU KOGYO K.K. 22 Jan., 1969 [25 Jan., 1968], No. 3611/69. Heading C5E. Hydrocarbon feedstocks containing non- volatile components, e.g. crude oil or heavy oil, are cracked by contact with a stream of high temperature steam or combustion gas into which the feedstock is sprayed in a direction of from right angles to countercurrent, the reactor walls being maintained at a temperature above 800‹ C., preferably above 1000‹ C. The cracking temperature is suitably 800-1250‹ C., and products include acetylene, ethylene and propylene.
