Take-up motions.-In a letting-back device comprising a ratchet-wheel a secured by a setscrew b &c. to the shaft or stud B carrying the ordinary ratchet-wheel A of the take-up motion, the pawl K, which co-operates with the wheels a, and its slot k<1>, which receives a supporting-stud l, are approximately the shape of an arc of a circle concentric with the wheel a. The wheel a is of smaller diameter than and has the same number of teeth as the wheel A, and the stud l is carried on a bracket L secured to the loom framing M. An adjustable stop k<2> is provided to regulate the number of teeth let back. The shaft or stud B is supported on each side of the wheel a by vertical arms of the bracket secured to the framing M. The actuating-pawl C of the take-up motion is operated by a slotted lever D from the laysword as usual, and the returning-catch G, which is raised to free the wheel A, is secured to a lifting-finger H counterweighted at h.
