Abstract

1,218,074. Protective systems. STARKSTROM-ANLAGENBAU ERFURT VEB. 26 Jan., 1968, No. 4139/68. Heading H2K. An electronic directional overcurrent relay arrangement comprises an AND gate 8 receiving one input from a current transformer 1 with load resistor 9 through an adjustable phase shifter 10 and a level detector 12. The other input to the AND gate is derived through a diode limiter 6 and a level detector 7 from opposing secondary windings of voltage transformers 2, 3, one of the voltage transformer primary windings being connected in series with Zener diodes 4, 5 across the other primary winding. The AND gate 8 provides an output when the current and voltage signals have predetermined magnitudes and have a predetermined phase relationship. A " compensation " device 13 is connected between the phase shifter 10 and the level detector 7, the device 13 reducing the response threshold of the detector 7 when high overcurrent conditions occur. The output from the AND gate 8 is applied to a pulse shaper 14 and from the shaper to a monostable multivibrator 16 and an inverter 19. When an OR-gate 18 receives no signal from either the multivibrator 16 or the inverter 19, an inverter 20 provides an output signal, e.g. for tripping a circuit-breaker.
