[Also in Division G2] Naphthols of formula wherein R 1 and R 2 are alkyl or together form a 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic ring, R 3 is hydrogen, alkyl with 1 to 4 carbon atoms or aryl, R 4 is alkyl with 1 to 4 carbon atoms, phenyl, N,N-dialkylaminomethyl or a methyl radical substituted by pyrrolidine, piperazine, morpholine or thiomorpholine are prepared by reacting the 1 -hydroxy-4-substituted naphthalene with the appropriate diaminomethane. Dimorpholinomethane and l-hydroxy-4-N-(alpha-morpholinoacetylamino)-naphthalene is the exemplified reaction.
