Cooling-chambers; refrigerating, compression machines for. -A motor road vehicle or a railway wagon is fitted with a selfcontained compression refrigerating machine, the compressor of which is driven in the case of a motor road vehicle, by an independent internal-combustion or steam engine or electric motor, and in the case of a railway wagon, from a live axle or from an accumulator charged from a dynamo driven from the axle. In a motor road vehicle, the compressor 4 is driven from an independent engine or motor 2, and the refrigerant is condensed in coils 6 located in a shallow water tank 10 arranged on the roof of the vehicle. The tank is provided with a lowered cover, and the water is circulated by a pump 12 through a cooling radiator 13. A current of air may be driven through the radiator and over the water in the tank by means of a fan 15. The expansion coils are arranged around the sides and on the roof of the vehicle.
