Tanned leather is dyed a bright yellow shade by applying a dye of formula I in which A is a 6-methyl-2-benzothiazolyl or 6(6'-methyl-2'-benzothiazolyl)-2-benzothiazolylresidue, X is a sulphonic or carbonylic acid group, n is 0, 1 or 2 and in which the ring B may be further substituted. In particular dyes derived from sulphonated primuline are used, mixtures of these dyes may also be employed. The leather may be tanned by mineral, vegetable or synthetic tanning processes.
