Abstract

1,217,365. Medicines &c for ruminants. JOHN LABATT Ltd. 8 Feb., 1968 [23 Feb., 1967], No. 6277/68. Heading A5B. An additive to ruminant feedstuffs comprises particles containing one or more amino acids coated with a continuous film of a material which passes substantially unchanged through the rumen but which releases the amino acids posterior to the omasum, the particles having a density in the range 0.8 to 2.0 and a size of 200 to 2000 microns. The coating may be of rice bran wax or a fatty acid triglyceride and the particles may be made by conventional procedures such as fluidized bed coating, prilling or centrifugal extrusion encapsulation.
