Abstract

1,216,760. Preparation of 2,4-hexahydropyrimidinodiones. BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK A.G. 24 May, 1968 [27 May, 1967], No. 24829/68. Heading C2C. 2,4 - Hexahydropyrimidinodiones, especially those substituted in the 5 and/or 6 positions with H or C 1-12 alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, aralkyl or 5 or 6-membered heterocyclic, attached via carbon and containing one or two nitrogen atoms, one oxygen atom and/or one sulphur atom, are prepared by oxidation of the corresponding 2 - hexahydropyrimidone - 4 - ether or 2 - hexahydropyrimidon - 4 - ol, the former preferably being etherified with another radical of the type given above. The oxidizing agents preferred are inorganic or organic peroxides, manganese (IV) or (VII), or chromium (VI) compounds. The reaction may be carried out in an inert solvent or an inert solvent mixture, at a temperature of 0-150‹ C., preferably 50-110‹ C. and in the presence of an excess of up to 0À5 times over the stoichiometric amount of oxidizing agent.
