Abstract

1,216,713. EHT generation. TELEFUNKEN PATENTVERWERTUNGS G.m.b.H. 7 March, 1968 [7 March, 1967], No. 11088/68. Heading H2F. In an EHT supply for a cathode-ray tube of the type in which the current in an inductor is periodically interrupted by means of an electronic switch 7, controlled by a sawtooth waveform 17, the EHT voltage is stabilized by variation of the steep flank of the sawtooth wave 17. As shown, a line output valve 7 or transistor is periodically interrupted by a sawtooth voltage on the grid generated by the periodic charging and discharging of capacitor 6 via valve 1, overdriven by a sine wave 2 on the grid. The flyback pulses developed in winding 11 are rectified at 12 so as to provide the EHT voltage. An energy recovery circuit 9, 10 is provided. The EHT current is monitored by resistors 13, the flyback pulses being by-passed by diode 15, and after smoothing, applied to the base of transistor 16 so as to control the discharge current of capacitor 6 and hence the slope of the steep flank of the sawtooth voltage 17 fed to the grid of valve 7, so as to stabilize the EHT voltage against changes in load current. This action causes a corresponding change in the width of the flyback pulses so that if lower voltage flyback pulses are rectified for the production of focusing voltage, the ratio between EHT and focusing voltags remains contant. A positive-going control voltage + U1 is available if device 16 is replaced by a NPN transistor or thermionic valve. In Fig. 4 (not shown) transistor 16 is replaced by a thermionic valve, shunted by an inverse diode and connected in series with the grid of valve 7.
