[Also in Division B2] A continuous or discontinuous layer of a plastics material, e.g. PVC, is made by forcing a thixotropic gel thereof through a rotary printing stencil by means of a squeegee, on to a support surface from which the layer may be removed, the thickness of the layer being controlled by the pressure of the squeegee. The screen may have a plain mesh, preferably not exceeding 150 perforations per linear inch. A succession of discontinuous layers may be applied successively and different layers may be differently coloured. A final wear-resistant transparent layer may be applied over the last of a series of coloured layers.
