Abstract
1,215,976. Fluid-pressure servomotor systems. ROSEMOUNT ENG. CO. April 16, 1968 [April 28, 1967], No.17901/68. Heading G3P. A servomotor system for providing a remote indication of pressure includes a housing 16, a first diaphragm 32 exposed to the pressure to be indicated, a second movable diaphragm 52 forming a chamber 62, a source 45 of fluid under pressure, a passageway 35, 40, 41 leading from the source to the chamber; valve means; 72 located in the passageway between the first and second diaphragms, a first link 24 to cause the valve means to open when the pressure on the first diaphragm increases, and a second link 36 to cause the valve means to close when the pressure in the chamber 62 increases. The diaphragm 32 and three radial strips 37 supportingthe valve means for axial movement are secured by spot welding, the diaphragm 32 being of stainless steel and exposed to the pressure in the barrel 12 of a plastic extruder. The diaphragm 52 is clamped between two parts of a housing 46 containing the chamber 62 communicating with a gauge 63 and with atmosphere through an orifice 66 and a chamber communicating with atmosphere through a screen 68 and sealed from the passageway 35 by an O-ring 61. A spring 65 balances the system at zero pressure. A pressure switch or limit arm contacts within the gauge 63 may close an alarm circuit when a predetermined pressure is reached.
