Abstract

1,215,848. Limiter circuits. HONEYWELL Inc. 19 Nov., 1968, No. 54853/68. Heading H3T. The voltage amplitude of an output signal at 22 is limited to the breakdown voltage of a Zener diode 20 connected between the bases of opposite conductivity type transistors 14, 16. A voltage, of either polarity, equal to this breakdown voltage creates a conduction path through the forward biased junctions of the transistors and the Zener diode. The collector/emitter commoned connections of the two transistors could be reversed as a symmetry does exist. In Fig. 2 (not shown) the Zener diode is replaced by a reverse biased diode.
