Abstract
1,215,592. Polyenes. W. R. GRACE & CO. 26 July, 1967 [26 July, 1966; 23 Feb., 1967], No. 16797/70. Divided out of 1,215,591. Heading C3R. Polyenes having a M.W. of 300 to 20,000 and a viscosity of 0 to 20,000 centipoises at 70‹ C., containing an average of two or more terminal groups of the formula wherein X is halogen, methyl or hydrogen and R is hydrogen, halogen, aryl, substituted aryl, aralkyl, substituted aralkyl, cycloalkyl, alkyl of 16 carbon atoms or substituted alkyl of 1 to 16 carbon atoms, and containing substantially no free isocyanate groups are prepared by reacting (a) a monoisocyanate of formula or respectively, X and R being as hereinbefore defined with (b) a polyol and/or polyamine containing no reactive unsaturation. The monoisocyanates are most suitably allyl or crotonyl monoisocyanates and are preferably reacted with a polyoxyalkylene polyol. The monoisocyanates may also be reacted with a polyethylene imine. In a typical example a nitrogencontaining tetrol was reacted with allyl isocyanate in the presence of dibutyl tin dilaurate .
