Abstract

1,170,837. Urethane group-containing polyepoxides. CIBA Ltd. 18 July, 1967 [19 July, 1966], No. 32931/67. Heading C2C. [Also in Division C3] Polyepoxides of the formula are prepared by reacting a urethane preadduct of the formula with a 1,2-epoxy alcohol of the formula wherein n is an integer of at least 2 and preferably 2 or 3, X is an oxygen or sulphur atom, R is an n-valent aliphatic radical which may be interrupted by oxygen or sulphur atoms or by carboxylic acid ester groups, R 1 is an aliphatic radical which contains a terminal 1,2-epoxide group, A is the residue of a glycol, polyglycol, thiodiglycol or poly-(thiodiglycol) from which the terminal hydroxyl groups have been removed, m is 1 or 2 and p is 1 or 2, preferably 1. Examples describe the preparation of polyepoxides from (9) a toluylene 2,4-diisocyanateethylene glycol preadduct and hexamethyleneglycol-monoglycidyl ether, (10) a toluylene- 2,4 - diisocyanate - hexamethylene glycol preadduct and hexamethyleneglycol - monoglycidyl ether, and (11) a toluylene-2,4-diisocyanate thiodiethyleneglycol pre-adduct and diethyleneglycol-monoglycidyl ether.
