Abstract

1,215,560. Pipe clean out trap. G. JAHN. 24 Nov., 1969, No. 57357/69. Heading F2P. A clean-out trap assembly for pipes comprises a frame 13, a cover 14 and a clamping assembly 15. The frame 13 has a substantially oval aperture 17 and a recess 21, the frame being welded to the pipe around its outer perimeter 22 and around the inner boundary of the shoulder 21, the welds being separated laterally. The cover 14, which is curved transversely to fit the curvature of the pipe, has a recess on its upper side which retains an 0-ring 401 which engages a seating 31 in the frame. A threaded bolt 41 secured centrally to the cover 14 extends through a central aperture 43 of a bridge piece 42, and a wing nut 45 screws downwardly to draw the cover upwardly to close and seal the aperture 17. A chain 46 is secured by one end to the cover 14 and by the other end to the frame to prevent loss of the cover into the pipe when the wing nut 45 is lowered to facilitate the downward and sideways manipulation of the cover as the trap is opened. The device may be incorporated on a pipe elbow the frame and cover being curved transversely and longitudinally to fit the curvature of the pipe elbow.
