Abstract

The water-tap is connected to the underground water-pipe by means of an inverted T-shaped piece, the horizontal parts of which fit into the pipe of the same cross-section. Above the T is a vertical pipe on which is screwed a further tube. The junction of the two pieces forms a compartment containing an automatic valve which the water pressure forces against its seating situated in the top of the compartment. Inside the top of the upper tube fits a rod on which is placed the sprinkler or spout. On the bottom of the rod is a pin resting on the valve and opening it for the water to come up. A tube with a plug in the top to prevent dirt penetration, encloses the water cock.
