Abstract

1,215,451. Change-speed gear control. SELFCHANGING GEARS Ltd. 15 Jan., 1968 [13 Jan., 1967], No. 1946/67. Headings F2D and F2K. The gear lever 1, in a gate 4 of a changespeed gear is pivoted in a gimbal block 2 mounted for pivoting at right angles on a shaft 3 to move an operating rod 13 which either directly or, through switches or valves, actuates a gear-changing mechanism (not further described), a handle 5, pivoted on the lever, about a transverse pin 6, camming a rod 9a spring- biased upwards against the handle so that, on pivoting of the handle the rod 9a moves down to operate a valve to cause actuation of a rangechanging mechanism, or other vehicle accessory, e.g. vehicle doors, power take-off, load dumping and loading apparatus, or special purpose pumps. As shown, the rod 9a may only be moved down when the lever 1 is in a central neutral position when the rod passes through a hole 14 in a baulking plate 15 to contact a rod 16 receeived in a recess in a valve actuating member 11. Again, Figs. 1 and 2 (not shown), the rod 9a may be moved down at any time. The rods 9a and 16 are formed integral (9), and the baulking plate is omitted.
