Abstract

1,215,252. Dosing device. E. P. BURION. 4 Feb., 1969 [5 March, 1968], No. 5940/69. Heading BIC. A device for dosing powder into a boiler 13 comprises a tank 1 provided with a flexible diaphragm 4, a mixing chamber 8, supported by the flexible diaphragm and connected to the plunger 17 of a solenoid 18, a calibrated nozzle 7 interconnecting the tank and mixing chamber, and piping 10, 11, 12 connecting the mixing chamber to the boiler. The mixing chamber is provided with a sloping floor 9 and is connected to an air inlet tube 16. Alternate energisation and deenergisation of the solenoid causes the mixing chamber to vibrate thereby permitting powder to enter the mixing chamber with air from tube 16, the air-powder suspension being discharged into the boiler 13. The tank may be provided with a further calibrated nozzle 25 and a non-return valve 26 for entry of air thereto. Actuation of the solenoid may be controlled by a programmer assembly, comprising motor 23, gear reducer 22, and cam 21.
