Abstract

1,215,113. Remoistenable adhesive coatings. CORN PRODUCTS CO. 11 Feb., 1969 [6 March, 1968], No. 7447/69. Heading B2E. (Also in Division C3] Paper or fabrics are coated with a remoistening adhesive composition or fabric comprises a gelatinised starch chemically modified to such an extent as to be substantially free of set back in water, hide glue having a gel strength of at least 100g and providing a glue value of at least 2, a plasticiser and water in proportions such that the ratio of starch and hide glue combined to plasticiser is at least 4:1, and the composition contains from 30%- 70% solids by weight; and a composition suitable for preparing a remoistening adhesive composition comprises a composition as above with the gelatinised starch replaced by ungelatinised starch modified so that the starch is substantially free of set back after gelatinisation in water. Various plasticisers and modified starches are specified.
