Abstract

Gauging-devices.-A gauging-device for a lathe comprises a feeler on distance-piece H slidably mounted between a micrometer screw F, and the work to be gauged, or tool to be set, the feeler H being so mounted, as in a pivoted support G, as to be displaceable during the turning opera. tion, and returnable to its operative position after. wards. The rounded rear end H<2> is kept against the screw F by a spring L. A collar H<3> prevents the feeler H passing too far into the support G, and a locking-screw M is provided. A spring- pressed locking-pin holds the support G in its operative or inoperative position. The whole is preferably carried on a slide B having an adjustable stop D. The graduations on the micrometer may read twice the traverse of the screw, so as to register the change in diameter of the turned article. For measuring the mean effective diameter of screwed work, small standard cylinders are inserted in the threads, and these cylinders may be suspended from the rods O.
