Abstract

1,214,254. Golf club. A. L. CARLINO. 21 Aug., 1969 [20 Sept., 1968, 14 April, 1969], No. 41687/69. Heading A6D. A golf club comprises a head 14 in the shape of a sphere having a segment removed to form a flat striking surface 18 and a shaft 12 fixed to the head so that an extension of its longitudinal axis passes through the centre of curvature of the sphere. The head 14 comprises two parts a hollow metallic housing 26 having a circular opening 28 and a closure member 30 of a light weight material such that when the two parts are secured by means of a screw-threaded tie-rod 32, the centre of gravity of the club head coincides with the centre of curvature of the sphere. Weights (40, Fig. 3, not shown) may be carried 'by the tierod 32. In a modification, the club head may have two striking surfaces, a closure member being situated at the base of the club head.
