Abstract

1,213,995. Dyes containing cyclic imide groups. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 16 Sept., 1968 [29 Sept., 1967], No. 44474/67. Heading C4P. The invention comprises azo pigments free from sulphonic and carboxylic acid groups and having the general formula wherein X is a. direct link or a divalent radical, B is the residue of a coupling component and ring A may be further substituted e.g. by halogen, alkyl or alkoxy. Preferably B is the residue of a coupling component of the acetoacetarylamide, 2 - hydroxy - 3 - naphthoic acid arylamide or the 5-pyrazolone series. X may be a divalent alkylene, aralkylene or arylene radical and may contain hetero atoms and/or substituents. They are prepared by (a) reacting two molar proportions of one or more acids of the formula or the anhydride or imide thereof with a diamine H 2 N-X-NH 2 , or (b) coupling a coupling component B-H with a tetrazotized diamine of the formula The pigments colour p.v.c., polythene, polystyrene and cellulose acetate in red, yellow and orange shades.
