Abstract

1,213,550. Pneumatic springs. BREMSHEY & CO. 20 Dec., 1968, No. 60841/68. Heading F2S. [Also in Division A4] The frequency of vibration of a pneumatically sprung vehicle seat is adjusted by altering the position of a roller 17 on which a lever 11 is supported. When the roller 17, which is slidably adjusted by means of a screw spindle 16, is in a position indicated at 21 the ram 10 of the spring 9 remains stationary as the seat moves. On movement of the roller from the position 21 in the direction of arrow A, the ram moves in the same direction as the seat and the frequency of vibration of the spring thereby decreases. On movement of the roller in the direction of arrow B the ram moves in the opposite direction to the seat and frequency of vibration of the spring increases. In Fig. 2 (not shown) the spring is connected to a valve (22) which automatically adjusts the quantity of air in the spring as the seat moves thereby making it self-levelling. The level setting is itself adjustable.
