Abstract

1,213,548. Piles. RAYMOND INTERNATIONAL Inc. 17 Dec., 1968 [23 Feb., 1968], No. 59962/68. Heading E1H. A pile is formed by providing a tubular jacket or shell 12 (e.g. of steel), pouring a wet concrete mix including an expansive additive (e.g. calcium sulfoaluminate) into the shell and allowing the mix to cure therein and expand against the shell thus forming a core 14 upon which the jacket exerts an inwardly directed pressure thereby increasing the strength of the core material in an axial direction.
