Abstract

1,212,605. Isobutylidene diurea. BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK A.G. 29 March, 1968 [30 March, 1967], No. 15102/68. Heading C2C. Isobutylidene diurea i.e. is produced by a continuous process which comprises mixing an at least 50% by weight aqueous urea solution, isobutyraldehyde and an aqueous solution of acid, such as a strong to medium strength acid, particularly a mineral acid, by means of one or more nozzles, the mixture being supplied to a reaction chamber so that the reaction may continue and the wholly or substantially reacted mixture is withdrawn' from the reaction chamber at a rate commensurate with the rate of feed. The reaction chamber may be provided with a jacket which is capable of being heated or cooled. The process is preferably carried out at a temperature between 40‹ and 90‹ C. The product can be processed with other plant nutrients into multinutrient or complete fertilizers in a simple manner without the need for water to be added.
