Abstract

1,211,636. Colouring paper. GEIGY (U.K,) Ltd. 12 May, 1969 [10 May, 1968], No. 22180 /68. Heading D1B. Paper is coloured by applying an aqueous dispersion of a pigment containing 2-40% by weight based in weight of the pigment of a cationic surface-active agent. Inorganic and organic pigments may be used, e.g. ozo, phthalocyanine, quinoeridone, diorcazine, anthraquinone, vat dye, salt of basic dye precipitated with a heteropoly acid of phosphorus, tungsten or molybdenum, red and yellow iron oxides. The paper may be sized or unsized and is preferably treated as paper pulp. The cationic surface-active agent may be a watersoluble salt of an aliphatic amine having 10-18 carbon atoms or a secondary or tertiary amine derived from it or an ethoxylated fatty amine in its secondary, tertiary or quaternary form, e.g. tallow fat amine derivatives and ethoxylated fatty amine derivative having 5-30 oxyethylene residues as above.
