Abstract

1,211,602. Laminated paper structure. PROCTER & GAMBLE CO. 5 Nov., 1968, No. 52328/68. Heading B5N. A compressible laminated paper structure is made by separately embossing two extensible paper sheets each of 7-30 pounds per 3000 sq. ft. with identical raised patterns of 16-200 discrete protuberances per sq. inch of height 0À01-0À04 inch, bonding the mating distal surfaces of the protuberances to form a laminated structure and calendering this to 50-90% of its thickness. An unembossed extensible paper sheet may be interposed and bonded between the mating distal surfaces of the embossed sheets. Bonding is effected by means of pressure or adhesives such as hydrolysed polyvinyl alcohol, starches, starch-clay formulas, wet strength resins, polyvinyl acetates, dextrins, latex emulsions and cellulose gums.
