Abstract

1,210,894. Packaging machines. F. UTTLEY & SON Ltd. 19 April, 1968, No. 18718/68. Divided out of 1,174,134. Addition to 1,091,529. Heading B8C. An improvement in the bagging machine for bagging or packing fibrous materials disclosed in Specification 1,091,529, comprises guide means on each side of the frame 1 for engaging the carriage to predetermine its path through the machine. The guide means consists of two bars 100, fixed to the frame 1 to lay on respective sides of carriages 18, to which are attached either roller chains 102 or rack teeth (not shown). Each carriage 18 is provided with a shaft 104 having two toothed wheels 108 which engage with the chains 102. A ratchet handle 110 (Fig. 2, not shown) connected to the shaft 104 may be reciprocated manually to propel the carriage, or a power drive may be used. The rear two wheels of each carriage are preferably castored. Roller chains 102 are anchored at 103 and tensioned by a draw bolt 105.
