Abstract
1,210,670. Gas filter. FRIED KRUPP HUTTENWERKE A.G. 15 Dec., 1967 [16 Dec., 1966], No. 57182/67. Heading BIT. A filter for removing dust from gases evolved in degassing molten steel comprises a plurality of glass fibre filter bags mounted in an upright cylindrical or polygonal housing which is divided down the middle to provide access to the bags. Housing part 1 has the gas inlet and outlet conduits 6, 7 and stands on legs 5, while part 2 is removable laterally or swings 'back on hinges (18) (Fig. 2, not shown), after bolts connecting flanges 3, 4 have been released. The bags 8 have internal supporting springs, and their open ends are attached round holes in upper plate 10, while their lower ends are attached by tensioning springs to plate 12. Plates 10, 12 are connected by rods 11 to form a filter assembly, which may be rotatably attached to stationary housing part 1, removable as a unit from the opened housing, or attachable in turn to each housing part so that successive openings of the two parts of the housing expose both halves of the assembly. Or some bags remain in part 1 and others move with part 2 when the housing is opened. Part 2 may be mounted on rollers, carriage or slideway and withdrawn using a fluid-actuated jack. The filter assembly may be lifted from the opened housng using a winch or fork lift truck. A suction pump is connected to gas outlet 7.
