Abstract

[Also in Divisions B8 and F2] A casing for housing an auger or shaft comprises a plurality of sections 10 each being formed adjacent to each of its ends with a series of projections 12 which are adapted to mate with complementary cut-outs 16 formed in clamping units 13. A keeper plate 14 carries straps 19 having inverted U-shape portions 20 adapted to engage inwardly directed flanges 11 on the sections 10 and inwardly directed lips 17 on the clamping unit 13. A clamping plate 15 is adapted to be slid between the keeper plate 14 and the limbs of the unit 13, the lips 17 entering grooves 21 at the edges of the plate 15. Clamping action is effected by tightening a bolt 22 in plate 15. In a modification shown in Fig. 2, cut-out portions 24 adjacent the ends of sections 10 are adapted to receive inverted V-portions 26 on a keeper plate 14.
