Abstract
1,210,306. Valves. LUCIFER S.A. 5 Aug., 1968 [14 Aug., 1967], No. 37241/68. Heading F2V. Flow between an inlet 2, outlet 3 and an exhaust 34, is controlled by a part electrically and part manually operable valve having two closure members 10 and 13 which are contained within a ferromagnetic core 7. In the state of the valve shown, flow takes place solely between the inlet 2 and outlet 3 with the electromagnetic coil 19, regardless of its state, having no effect upon the core 7 as the latter is rendered immovable by a rod 21 and a spring 24 acting thereon. Upon depressing and then rotating a push-button 22, a protruding flange 29, formed integrally with a fixed ferromagnetic member 18, firstly moves along a longitudinal groove 28 and then enters an arcuate groove 30, both formed in the button, so locking the button in its depressed state. Such action nullifies the effect of spring 24 and so allows a spring 8 to move the core 7 downwardly and hence member 10 to be seated. Subsequent unseating of the valve member 10 can be achieved by energizing the coil 19, with the rod 21 acting as a visual indicator of any movement imported to the core 7. With the core 7 in its lowered position flow from the outlet 3 can take place to exhaust 34 via two longitudinal grooves 12 formed in the core, an axial passage in the push button and an annular collecting chamber 33. In an alternative embodiment (Fig. 2, not shown), visual indication of the position of the core 7 is afforded by an external ferromagnetic ring (39) which moves in response to movement of the rod 21, the uppermost end of which carries a permanent magnet (38).
