A mirror surface with a precisely defined profile corresponding exactly to part of a given scene representation is obtained by providing a flat transparent sheet which is partly masked on one surface thereof, forming a mirror surface on the unmasked part and removing the mask. The mask may be an adhesive cut out sheet or may be formed by cutting an adhesive sheet on the surface to the desired shape. The mirror surface may be aluminized or silvered. The mirrored surface is used in conjunction with a camera located in front thereof to obtain a cine film by taking a film of the scene passing through the transparent parts of the mirror and also reflected off the mirror portion.
