Lighting burners by electric devices. - In an electrically - ignited torch comprising a tubular spirit reservoir E mounted on a base containing an induction coil B and a battery C, a lever G pivoted to the torch is arranged so that, when operated, a spring - c o n - trolled rod J is depressed t o complete t h e electric circuit by bearing against contact springs D in the base A, and. by a continuation of the movement of the lever, a spring H' carried by a spring-controlled pawl H mounted with the upper end of the lever G is drawn over a second contact spring K' fixed to the wick-tube, so that when the spring K<1> is released, a spark is produced which ignites the wick M. The upper end of the lever G is shaped so as to extinguish and enclose the wick when it returns to its inoperative position
