A table top 2 can be displaced rearwardly and reversed to overhang the front edge of the table stand 1 and then tilted. Initially, the table top 2 is centred and supported by abutment pins 6, 6a on sides 3 of the stand and pivot pins 4 on top 2 received in notches 5 in sides 3 (Fig. 4). To reverse, it is lifted and pushed rearwardly (to the left) so that pins 4 come out of notches 5, slide in grooves 8 and engage in bearing notches 10, Fig. 5, and then it is rotated about pins 4 so that flattened pins 11 on top 2 engage in slots in rotatable inserts 12 in sides 3. It is tilted about the inserts 12, the pins 11 rotating with the inserts 12 and thereby being locked, and pins 4 leave the notches 10 through open grooves 17, Fig. 6. The top 2 can be fixed in a selected tilted position, Fig. 6, by a pin 14 on a stay 13 mounted on one of the pins 4 received in a selected notch 16 of a recess 15 in the rail 3. To return to its horizontal position, the top is tilted beyond its position of maximum tilt so that the pin 14 can slide rearwardly across the top of a spring strip 18 fixed at 18a. The top 2 is returned to its central position (Fig. 4) by rotating about the axis of pins 4 in the notches 10. The pins 11 disengage from the inserts 12 and engage inclined stops 19 on the sides 3 so that the top 2 is pushed forwardly with pins 4 being forced at least part way over inclined surfaces 9 of notches 10. It is then pulled forwardly till pins 4 engage in notches 5. The parts 11, 12 may be replaced by rounded pins and notches. The pins 6, 6a can be rotated eccentrically by screws 7 to level top 2.
